What is a personal trainer?

A personal trainer in Oslo — your guide to better fitness

A personal trainer (PT) is a qualified professional who helps individuals achieve their training and health goals.

A PT provides guidance, motivation and tailored training programmes adapted to each client's needs — regardless of age, experience or physical condition.

The aim of a personal trainer is to improve fitness, strength, endurance and general health — and to help you build habits that last.

How we work

How does a personal trainer work?

A personal trainer works closely with the client to develop a personal training programme. The programme is adapted to the individual's goals, challenges and any injuries or special needs.

A PT's work can include:

Mapping your goals

A conversation with you to understand what you want to achieve — whether that's weight loss, more muscle strength, fitness or better general health.

Tailored training programmes

Developing exercises and training routines specific to your goals, your level and your body.

Motivation and support

Guidance during training sessions and encouragement that helps you stay on track and keep up good habits.

Follow-up and adjustments

A PT evaluates your progress continuously and adjusts the training programme as needed.

Lifestyle and nutrition coaching

Our PTs also give advice on diet, and on how you can make healthy choices beyond the training sessions.

Who it's for

Who is personal training for?

Personal training is for everyone — regardless of age, training level or goal. A PT adapts the training to all needs and lifestyles, and helps you reach your health and training goals in a safe and sustainable way.

People with little training experience

You have no experience with training and want help getting started in a safe and effective way.

Experienced athletes

You want to improve specific skills, increase strength or perform better in sport.

People who need rehabilitation

You have an injury or have had an operation, and need specially adapted training to get back to normal.

People who want to lose weight

You need extra motivation and support to reach healthy weight-loss goals.

People with a busy everyday life

You need extra motivation and structure. Personal training is very useful for people with a busy life and little time — a tailored training plan gives maximum effect from the time you invest.

Older people

You want to maintain or improve physical health, balance and mobility — and reduce the risk of falls or illness.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does a PT session cost?

We believe in the long term and offer PT memberships with and without a commitment period. Choose a membership with one, two or three PT sessions per week — and add physical massage if you wish. Session passes from NOK 4,350 (3 sessions) are an alternative with no commitment.

How long is a PT session?

A session lasts 55 minutes, unless otherwise agreed.

Can I train on my own at Torp&Co — when I don't have a PT session?

Of course. As a member you can use our state-of-the-art gym. We value our community and making sure everyone has quality space, so we use spot booking.

Membership or session pass — which suits me?

A membership suits you if you want to train every week: steadier progress, a lower price per session, and treatment included (Premium and above). A session pass suits you if you want to try PT, train in periods, or don't want a monthly commitment.

What does 'treatment included' mean?

Premium and above include one physical massage treatment per month (30 min). If you also need physio, chiropractic or osteopathy, we bring in the specialists in-house.

Ready for your first session?
